EXACT-6G Research Presented at Annual LINCS Workshop 2026
Paris, France – July 2026 – The EXACT-6G Doctoral Network is pleased to announce that Yendoubouam Alexandre Lalle, a PhD researcher hosted at Nokia Bell Labs France, presented his latest research at the Annual LINCS (Laboratory for Information, Networking and Communication Sciences) Workshop 2026, held at Paris-Saclay on 2–3 July 2026.
During the workshop, Alexandre showcased his ongoing PhD work through an elevator pitch and a poster presentation entitled “Toward Edge-assisted Live Acquisition of Metaverse Models in 6G.” His research addresses one of the key technological challenges for future immersive applications, including augmented, virtual, and extended reality (AR/VR/XR), telepresence, and digital twins.
These next-generation services rely on interactive 3D scene representations that users can explore from multiple viewpoints. While recent advances such as Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) have significantly improved the quality of 3D reconstruction, current approaches remain computationally intensive and are largely dependent on centralized, offline processing.
Alexandre’s research explores how the 6G edge-cloud continuum can enable the live acquisition, creation, and continuous updating of immersive 3D models using distributed mobile and fixed cameras. The work investigates key challenges related to communication and computation efficiency, decentralized model synthesis, continuous model updates, and precise camera localization, paving the way for scalable real-time immersive services over future 6G networks.
The research is supervised by Dr. Fabio Pianese at Nokia Bell Labs and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network EXACT-6G. The presented work also benefits from the contributions of Dr. Francesca Bassi (IRT SystemX) and Prof. Luis Alonso (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya).
The presentation at the Annual LINCS Workshop provided an excellent opportunity to engage with the networking and communications research community, exchange ideas with leading researchers, and receive valuable feedback on ongoing work.
