Welcome to the third newsletter for the EXACT-6G project! Moving forward, our newsletters will follow a semestral cycle, and this edition covers our highlights from December 2025 to May 2026. We kicked off the period with EXACT-6G showcased at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026 in Barcelona, followed by our presence at the Patras IQ Innovation and Technology Transfer Expo, the successful completion of Schools 3 and 6, the release of the second part of our Doctoral Researchers video series, a strong research presentation at ICT 2026 in Thessaloniki, and Mohamed Readh Fentazi's PhD research presentation at IFIP Networking 2026 in Lugano. Our consortium continues to advance steadily, with our Doctoral Candidates gaining valuable visibility and hands-on experience as we forge ahead toward the future of 6G.
EXACT-6G Showcased at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026 |
EXACT-6G proudly participated in Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026, held in Barcelona from 3-6 February, one of the world's leading exhibitions for innovative and integrated technologies. The event provided an excellent platform to present the project's vision and early progress in advancing explainable automation for future 6G infrastructures.
At the exhibition, EXACT-6G was showcased at Iquadrat's booth, located in the Govern de Catalunya Pavilion (CS100), booth 23, at Fira Barcelona.
The European Union funds EXACT-6G under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. It brings together leading partners from academia and industry, including ATHENA RC, EURECOM, University of Oulu, Greenerwave, Iquadrat, and Nokia, among others.
EXACT-6G at Patras IQ – Innovation and Technology Transfer Expo |
The SMARTECH Athena / ISI-ATHENA research team participated in the Patras IQ – Innovation and Technology Transfer Expo, the largest innovation and technology event in Western Greece, held from 27 February to 1 March 2026 at the Conference & Cultural Center, University of Patras, in Patras, Greece.
The expo offered the team a valuable opportunity to engage with the regional innovation ecosystem, presenting EXACT-6G's ongoing research to industry stakeholders, fellow researchers, and the wider public, and to highlight how the project's work connects with the local Patras innovation community.
EXACT-6G Doctoral Network Completes Schools 3 and 6 |
The EXACT-6G MSCA Doctoral Network has completed School 3 and School 6 of its doctoral training programme, marking another important milestone in preparing the next generation of 6G researchers.
Held online, both schools offered a dynamic and interactive learning environment where Doctoral Candidates engaged with experts from academia and industry on key technologies shaping future 6G networks, further strengthening their research skill set across the network.
EXACT-6G Introduces Its Doctoral Researchers in New Video |
The EXACT-6G Doctoral Network, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie project funded by the European Union, has released the second part of its video series, offering a closer look at the researchers driving the network's vision for future 6G systems.
Following the first video, which introduced the six beneficiaries of the network and the supervisors of the EXACT-6G project, this new release puts the spotlight directly on the Doctoral Candidates themselves, their motivations, and the research questions they are tackling.
Abdelrahman Elkhateeb Presents Innovative 6G Research at ICT 2026 |
We are proud to announce that Abdelrahman Elkhateeb (DC-03, Greenerwave / ESPCI Paris – PSL) successfully presented his research paper at the 32nd International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT 2026), held in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The paper, titled "On the Performance of Uplink Channel Estimation in the Presence of Uncoordinated RIS Interference," addresses one of the key challenges in deploying Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) at scale: maintaining reliable channel estimation when multiple uncoordinated RIS elements introduce interference into the uplink.
We congratulate Abdelrahman Elkhateeb on this achievement and his continued contribution to advancing RIS-enabled 6G research within the EXACT-6G network.
Mohamed Readh Fentazi Presents PhD Research at IFIP Networking 2026 |
We are pleased to announce that Mohamed Readh Fentazi (DC-06, EURECOM) presented his PhD research at the PhD Forum of the IFIP Networking Conference 2026, held in Lugano, Switzerland.
His extended abstract, "Opening the Black Box of Zero-Touch 6G: Sequential XAI in the Control Loop," explores how explainable AI can improve trust and transparency in autonomous 6G network management. The research proposes a novel framework that combines sequential explainable AI (XAI) with Machine Reasoning to support accurate, transparent, and auditable decision-making within Zero-touch Service Management (ZSM).
The work is supervised by Prof. Adlen Ksentini at EURECOM and is carried out within the EXACT-6G project, funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101120297).
We congratulate Mohamed on this achievement and wish him continued success in his PhD research.
As EXACT-6G continues into its next phase, our Doctoral Candidates remain active across conferences, training schools, and outreach events, building visibility for the network's research on explainable automation and 6G.
